About the Workshop
Inside Extremity is a contemporary dance course that emphasizes the development of physical strength, awareness, improvisation skills, and personal coordination. By exploring our individuality, we seek to achieve clarity, musicality, and the development of body intelligence, ultimately creating our own unique movement vocabulary. The course is divided into two distinct parts. The first part involves improvisation within a defined physical framework, where participants engage in directed tasks. The second part features a variety of kinetic patters and a final long movement sequence that combines improvisational elements with the challenges of memory, stamina and coordination.
About Eva Georgitsopoulou
Eva Georgitsopoulou, originally from Patras and residing in Berlin since 2014, is a dancer and choreographer with a diverse background. While pursuing her studies in law at Democritus University of Thrace, she has immersed herself in the world of dance. She graduated from the State School of Dance in Athens and continued her studies in Israel. Throughout her career, Eva has collaborated with a remarkable array of acclaimed artists and companies. As a dancer, she has collaborated with choreographers such as Noa Zuk, the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, Oktana Dance Theater, Hellenic Dance Company, Sonia Rodriguez, Inside The Body Performing Arts, Frantics, Judith Sanchez Ruiz, and Edivaldo Ernesto, among others. Notably, she worked extensively with Aerites Dance Company from 2016 to 2021. She has contributed as an associate choreographer and creative collaborator in projects for Compagnia EgriBianco Danza, Epidaurus Lyceum, Reggio Emilia Fonderia, and the Greek National Opera Ballet. Since 2019, Eva has been a performer at Sasha Waltz & Guests, adding another dimension to her artistic repertoire. As a choreographer, her own creations have graced numerous theaters and festivals since 2015. Notably, her work „BadTrip“ was presented at the Athens Video Dance Project in 2016. Her solo piece, „miTerra,“ has been showcased at venues such as Katapult Berlin, Tanzfabrik open night, Amalgam-Solo Dance Performance Festival, Kalamata Dance Festival, Dance Days Chania, and Lange Nacht Des Tanzes Pliberg, to name a few. In 2021, Eva choreographed „W(h)oman“ for the 5th online Festival of the Greek National Opera Ballet. Her solo piece, „Groove,“ was produced by and showcased at the Athens Epidaurus Festival in 2021. Most recently, her newest creation, titled „A signal that travels down through your heart episode #1,“ premiered at the Arc for Dance Festival in Athens, Greece in 2022, and had its Berlin debut at Acker Stadt Palast in March 2023.
