Lyrical Jazz Workshop (Intermediate) with Selma Hoffmann – Summer Intensive Week

This 5-day Intensive Dance Workshop with Selma Hoffmann is aimed at all dancers who want to expand and/or strengthen their skills in Lyrical Jazz Dance. Intermediate level means that you should have around 2 to 3 years of jazz dance or similar dance experience. Basic Jazz Technique is required.

The focus of this workshop is to improve your dance technique, translate it into choreographies and incorporate your feelings and personality.You should know the basics like pliés, fondues, contests, releases, falls and pirouettes.

CONTENT

Every 2 days, we will work on a lyrical jazz choreography and on Friday we will practice both choreographies. Among other things, Selma attaches great importance to the participants getting a feel for the song in order to be able to express it with their movement and find their own interpretation.

STRUCTURE OF THE COURSE

10-15 minutes – A movement workout to warm all muscle groups
10-15 minutes – Floor barre with stretch exercises
40 minutes – Technical exercises with elements of classical dance like pliés and tondues, broken up with jazz elements like contraction and falls. In the “Across the Floor” we practice twists and jumps.
40-60 minutes – Choreography

If there are fewer than 10 registered participants, we reserve the right to cancel the workshop. To avoid this happening, we ask for a fixed registration in advance.
