This class series will give you the opportunity to learn the techniques of partner acrobatics from the ground up and how to incorporate those into your dance routines with a partner. Learn how to base, fly, and spot safely and confidently as well as how to train your body to master challenging tricks. The focus will lie on standing and dynamic moves, but may include some L-basing. Experience is helpful but not necessary. The course consists 90 minutes sessions that will help you build strength and coordination. Bringing a partner you will be able to train with consistently is recommended but not necessary, as there will be the opportunity to rotate partners. Stepping out of your typical role as base or flyer will be encouraged and supported. Come expand your movement skills and learn some new ways to move your body and those of your friends!
As beautiful as they are daunting, partner dance acrobatics become very accessible with the right instruction. Once an understanding of certain body dynamics is established, balancing from the center, body tension, using timing to amplify energy, a whole new horizon of partner movement becomes available.
We will be looking at the fundamental techniques and principals: Lifts, Flips, and Transitions. Our training will consist in equal parts of figure as well as exercises to integrate this knowledge and tie it into choreographies.
There is no predefined experience level though the more experienced the participants are, the further we will go with the contents.
If the class description above doesn't say otherwise, all of our classes are open drop in classes. That means you don't need to register for this class in advance.
