I see myself as a facilitator rather than a teacher, providing a context and framework for critical thinking and learning. I use the lens of the Axis Syllabus, a collection of information from various fields of science, such as functional anatomy, physics, embryology, and biotensegrity, to name a few. I strongly believe that education in the way we move is fundamental to the health and longevity of a dancer. We explore our relationship to gravity and the limitations and potential inherent in our architectural set up. Understanding that skeleton alignment is key for the efficient use of energy and force transmission. My aim is to share useful information and support a student’s individual process, to inspire curiosity and self-empowerment. I see the human body in its wholeness and encourage exploring its richness of expression to tap into its inherent source of graceful and skilful articulation. In practice we will alternate between sensitive explorations, dynamic dance motifs and phrases, exploratory processes and theoretical insights.
