This year, I would like to honor old customs and celebrate the coming of summer on Walpurgis Night. Once better known, this night, like many old customs, was reinterpreted or lost completely during Christianization. December 24th, for example, used to be celebrated in Northern Europe for the sun rising and the end of the long, dark days.
Celebrating the coming of spring signifies giving energy to the earth’s power and welcoming the sun, fertility and the vivacity of life. So, let’s all dance together to welcome May!
I look forward to seeing each and every one of you! Admission is free and there will be surprises and, of course, a great bar. Fancy dress is also very welcome. For those curious to learn more about the different customs and traditions, and to get you in the mood for this special festival, have a watch of the interesting videos below (in German).
Yours,
Stella
