Silvia Orchidaceae

Silvia Orchidaceae is a Berliner by choice with Portuguese roots. The trained architect came in contact with oriental dance in 2007. Since then she has been on an intense and moving journey with many workshops, trainings and competitions. From 2010 she has been teaching Oriental Dance and Tribal Fusion herself.  Since 2013, as a member of Orchidaceae Family, a dance company based in Lisbon that combines traditional with urban dance forms.

Every now and then she has been teaching classes and workshops at motion*s or participated in our open stages as a dancer and choreographer.

About Silvia Orchidacae

Silvia discovered the world of Oriental Dance by chance in 2007, when she was looking for something to break her work routine as an architect. Since then, it has been an increasingly intense and profound journey marked by several stages. She began her dance training in Lisbon. In addition to national training, she participated in international workshops by Mahmoud Reda, Farida, Khaled Mahmoud, Yousry Sharif, Tito Seif, Mo Geddawi, Saida, Nour, Virginia, Jilina, Munich Neith, among others. In 2008, she joined Mahtab, a group of dancers focused on developing several styles and fusions related to Oriental Dance. Amongst other awards and distinctions, Mahtab won first prize at the International folklore competition of the Nile Group Festival in Cairo (2010).
Tribal Fusion Bellydance turned out to be her greatest passion. In this area, she had the privilege to learn from Rachel Brice, Ashley Lopez, and Samantha Emanuel among others. The connection to the dance went beyond Mahtab, and with the opening of Studio Mahtab (2010-2013), Silvia began teaching Oriental Dance and Tribal Fusion.
She is also one of the sponsors of TribaLX, the only international Tribal Fusion Festival in Portugal, always with participants from all over the world.

2013 Silvia joined the Orchidaceae Urban Tribal group formed and lead by Piny Orchidaceae.
After winning the first place at the Tribal Fusion Competition of the Sommer Festival in Berlin she started in 2014 giving regular Tribal Fusion classes.

About Orchidaceae Urban Tribal Dance Company

Orchidaceae Urban Tribal is a dance company where Tribal Fusion Belly Dance meets Hip Hop inspired by Popping, Waacking, Vogue and Contemporary Dance. We try to melt the barriers of language, fusing our skills and knowledge through our different dance backgrounds. We are a collective of female dancers, artists, life lovers that work and think about the urban context and constantly seek the connection between several artistic strands. The definition of our work drinks of miscegenation of influences and crossroads of cultures.
